Fiberglass Pipe Jacking Manufacturers Discuss the Three Types of Pipe Jacking
Pipe jacking is primarily categorized into three types based on their operating principles: slurry balance, air pressure balance, and earth pressure balance. The slurry balance principle is most commonly used on site and is suitable for pipe jacking with a diameter ≥ DN800 (DN800. DN1000).

In slurry balance pipe jacking, the tunnel boring machine (TBM) is propelled forward by the main jacking cylinder. The TBM head enters the water stop, penetrates the soil layer, and reaches the receiving well. An electric motor provides power, rotating the cutting disc, which then enters the soil layer. Excavated soil, rocks, and other debris are crushed by the rotating cutting disc and then enter the slurry tank, where they are mixed with slurry. Finally, the slurry is pumped to the surface through the slurry system's discharge pipe. During the excavation process, Fiberglass Pipe Manufacturers employ complex earth pressure balance devices to maintain a constant balance between active and passive earth pressures, effectively eliminating ground subsidence and heave. After the tunnel boring machine completely enters the soil layer, the cables and mud pipes are removed, and a section of the jacking pipe is hoisted. It is pushed to the tail sleeve of the tunnel boring machine and connected to the tunneling head. After the pipe is jacked in, the excavation is stopped and the hydraulic pressure is slowly retracted. Another section of the pipe is hoisted into the well, put behind the previous section of the pipe, connected together, and jacked in again. This process is repeated until all the pipes are pushed into the soil layer and an underground pipeline is completed.
