(1) Both construction processes require the use of working wells and receiving wells for related construction operations. However, the construction equipment used in the two construction methods is quite different, so the sizes of the working wells and receiving wells used in the construction are also quite different. The working well size used in the slurry balance construction method is usually 8 meters in diameter in a circle or 48 meters in a rectangular shape, and the receiving well diameter is usually 5 meters in diameter in a circle or 45 meters in a rectangular shape. This size is very suitable for construction in narrow sections. At this time, the secondary pipe jacking method is required. The working well of this construction process is relatively small and can meet the construction conditions of narrow roads. Its working well diameter is usually 3.5 meters or 23.5 meters, and its receiving well diameter is usually 2.5 meters or 22.5 meters. If a single section of pipe with a length of 1 meter or even 0.5 meters is used for construction, the size of the working well and receiving well can be adjusted and optimized. Therefore, through comparative analysis, it can be seen that the secondary pipe jacking method has obvious advantages in terms of both floor space and construction cost.

(2) The excavation method used in the secondary pipe jacking method is the extrusion mechanism. When the jacking operation is carried out, the impact on the surrounding environment is relatively small. At the same time, this construction operation method will not affect the soil around the construction pipe and can well maintain the stability of the original soil. The mud-water balance construction method will produce a lot of thixotropic mud during the construction process, which is easy to cause secondary pollution and is not conducive to environmental protection. (3) The diameter of the jacking pipe usually used in the secondary pipe jacking method is always kept between DN400 and DN800. or even smaller. The diameter of the traditional mud-water balance pipe jacking method is generally DN800 (inclusive) or above. The diameter of the micro-jacking pipe can be below DN800. but it is difficult to construct it after it is less than DN500. A comparison shows that there are certain differences in the focus of the two methods, and each has its own advantages.
