A resin-mixed pipe manufacturer discusses the pipe jacking method.
Pipe jacking is an underground pipeline construction method developed after shield tunneling. It was first used in the construction of the Northern Pacific Railway in the United States in 1896. and has a century-long history. It was promoted and applied worldwide in the 1960s. In the past 20 years, Japan has developed technological pipe jacking heads and methods, such as earth pressure balance and water pressure balance pipe jacking machines.
Chinese fiberglass reinforced plastic pipe manufacturers began trial use in Beijing and Shanghai in the 1950s.
In 1981. the Zhenhai, Zhejiang Province, pipeline crossing the Yongjiang River, with a diameter of 2.6 meters, advanced 581 meters in a single direction. Five relay rings were used, with a vertical and horizontal deviation of less than 10mm.
High advancement speed: In 1980. the United States advanced 49 meters in 9.5 hours.
Long advancement distance:
The largest advancement distance in a single foreign project was 1.200 meters. In 1970. a 2.6-meter-diameter concrete pipe was jacked for the Hamburg sewer in Germany. China set a world record for concrete pipe jacking: a single jacking distance of 2.050 meters, in 2001 for a sewage pipe jacking project in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, using a reinforced concrete pipe with a diameter of 2 meters.
China also set a world record for steel pipe jacking: a single jacking distance of 1.743 meters, in 1997 for the Changqiao branch line of the Shanghai Huangpu River Upstream Water Diversion Project, using a steel pipe with a diameter of 3.5 meters.
